Gallup Outlaws News Release
Gallup, NM. ABA Gallup Talons owner Joe Kolb is excited to bring an exciting brand of basketball to Gallup, New Mexico. Kolb and Head Coach/General Manager Clayton Shields are tapping into the strong history of basketball in Gallup and surrounding Navajo, Zuni, Hopi and Laguna Reservations. Kolb, who is also owner of The Gallup Herald newspaper and Shields, a former star player at the University of New Mexico, come to the ABA with a strong sense of community involvement and are determined to provide a quality product to the area.
Rounding out this positive philosophy of the Gallup Talons is the strong presence of Native American players. Many of these players have played professional basketball in the US and Europe and are prepared to add a new dimension to the already unique and diversified ABA. According to Kolb, "I think America will be very pleased and surprised at the extraordinary talent this Native American players have...and we should be very competitive indeed."
