Tulsa Talons News Release
The Tulsa Talons have hired two coaches for the 2004 season, head coach Ken Matous announced today.
Joining Matous will be Mike Esposito, who coached the Cincinnati Swarm and Rochester Brigade last season, and Ian Cooper, who coached in the NIFL and NAIA.
Esposito comes to Tulsa after two head coaching stints in the arenafootball2 league (af2) last season. He served as general manager and head coach of the Cincinnati Swarm, and coached the final two games for the Rochester Brigade. Esposito will be the Talons' defensive coordinator and line coach.
"Mike Esposito brings a wealth of knowledge and experience," Talons head coach Ken Matous said. "His background as a head coach helps bring a lot to the table. His wide knowledge of players will help us expand our player pool as well."
Cooper will serve as the Talons' secondary coach after coaching the outside linebackers at Gardner-Webb University in the NAIA last year. He was defensive coordinator of the NIFL's Billings Outlaws in 2002 and 2003, and helped guide Billings to the NIFL championship game in 2002.
"He has a good background in the NIFL," Matous said of Cooper. "He is an enthusiastic young coach on the same page as our defensive backs."
The Tulsa Talons will kick off their 5th af2 campaign on Saturday, April 3rd, hosting the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz. Season tickets are now on sale, starting at just $66! Call 918-664-4453 for more information, or log on to the Tulsa Talons website at www.tulsatalons.com.
