Three Tulsa Talons will lend a helping hand at the 2003 Oklahoma Teen Conference on Thursday, July 10, on the campus of the University of Oklahoma in Norman. Former Sooners Johnny Balous, Brandon Daniels and Ramon Richardson will be on hand to help over 400 young adults who are making the difficult transition from foster care.

Each of the players will have their chance to interact with the youths in a number of ways including a discussion on the differences between the Arena Football League and the National Football League. Teens will have the opportunity to toss around the football with the Talons and also try on official Talons gear. A Talons highlight video will be on display and the players will be signing autographs and posing for pictures with the crowd.

"The Talons consider it a great privilege to play a part in the lives of these transitioning youth," said Susie Weinacht, Talons' Director of Community Relations.

The National Resource Center for Youth Services holds this conference annually to encourage foster system youth to become more involved in extra curricular and leisure activities.

"Independent Living is what a teen conference is all about," said Independent Living Program Supervisor Misty Codrey. "Youth learn new skills, strengthen present skills and network with other youth from around the state who are going through the same transition to self-sufficiency.

The Talons will be in action this Saturday night at 7:30 against the Hawaiian Islanders at the Tulsa Convention Center. A Tulsa win would clinch the Talons' second-straight National Conference Central Division Championship.
