May 2, 2007 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Houston Takers News Release

Sam Smith head coach of the Houston Takers of the American Basketball Association have joined up with Heinrich YMCA in Las Vegas, Nevada to be the start of their camps. The Las Vegas area is where Sam Smith resides and also played college basketball for UNLV and he seems very excited about the oppurtunity in Houston, Texas. "I know alot of these in this area and told Mr. Nichols that it would be a great fit to bring some unseen jems out of this city" stated coach Smith. Smith does have some knowledge of how fast and different the ABA is because of his experience coaching the Mississippi Miracles before stepping down. The Mississippi Miracles were 1-7 until coach Smith and the new owner stepped in and completely changed the direction of the team to a 16-10 record before he resigned. "That alone stood out to us making the decision to hire him along with his experience in the league" said leonard.

The tryouts will begin July 13, 2007 at 6:00pm at Heinrich YMCA and end July 14, 2007 with a 12:00pm session.
