Real Salt Lake News Release
SALT LAKE CITY (Wednesday, December 8, 2010) - Listeners of ESPN 700 Sports Radio can now hear their favorite programs on the go thanks to the station's new iPhone application, which was unveiled earlier today. To download the free ESPN 700 "app," which possesses full iPhone OS4 capability, head to the iTunes Store and search "ESPN 700".
ESPN 700 Sports Radio will serve as Utah's radio headquarters during the upcoming college bowl season, with the "Home of the Utes" providing the most in-depth coverage in the build-up to the MAACO Bowl Las Vegas on Wednesday, December 22, when the #19-ranked University of Utah will face off against the #10 Boise State Broncos in a much-anticipated regional showdown in the desert. The MAACO Bowl Las Vegas will be just one of 18 bowl games hitting the ESPN 700 airwaves throughout December and January, culminating with all five BCS contests, including the Tostitos BCS National Championship Game between #1 Auburn and #2 Oregon on Monday, January 10.
Every weekday afternoon from 2:00-6:00 p.m. MT, the "Bill & Spence" Show with Bill Riley & Spencer Checketts will be the place to go for all things MAACO Bowl Las Vegas, which began on Monday when the duo caught Utah Football Head Coach Kyle Whittingham's initial reactions to Sunday night's bowl announcement and the match-up with the Broncos. "Bill & Spence" is also where to get the best information and opinion on the National Basketball Association, as proven on Tuesday when the duo talked with ESPN play-by-play voice Mike Breen and Utah Jazz color analyst Matt Harpering. Those interviews and more are available by heading to the "Bill & Spence" archive page in the audio section of ESPN700Sports.com, which is updated throughout the show's daily broadcast.
The unpredictable and entertaining chatter will continue on "Bill & Spence" today during "Hot or Not Wednesday," when the guys catch up with Real Salt Lake defender Nat Borchers at 4:20 p.m. MT to discuss RSL's recent personnel moves and the always-busy MLS offseason. Bill & Spence will then take their talents to South Beach (mentally, anyways) for today's "Big Interview of the Day" at 5:10 p.m., when the NBA talk continues with former Jazz man and current Miami Heat analyst John Crotty breaking down tonight's huge Jazz-Heat match-up at Energy Solutions Arena. On Thursday, the show will welcome its resident "NBA Insider," Gordon Chiesa, in addition to Real Salt Lake Founder and former Utah Jazz President Dave Checketts for his weekly "Big Interview" appearance.
Fans can stay up-to-date on daily guests and poll question topics on the "Bill & Spence" show by visiting ESPN 700's Facebook fan page, located at www.facebook.com/ESPN700, or via Twitter at www.Twitter.com/ESPN700Bill, www.Twitter.com/ESPN700Spence, and www.Twitter.com/ESPN700Shep.
As the weather gets colder on the Wasatch Front, the hoops action on "The Hill" heats up, and the "Home of the Utes" will continue its coverage of the Men's and Women's Basketball squads this week. The Lady Utes (4-5) will look for its 28th win in as many games against Idaho State (5-4) this evening at the Huntsman Center, with pre-game coverage beginning on ESPN 700 at 6:45 p.m. MT in advance of the 7:00 p.m. tip-off. On the heels of last night's 67-60 home win over Pepperdine, the Men's Utes hoopsters (6-2) will look to build upon its three-game winning in Big Ten Country this Friday against the Michigan Wolverines (6-2), with coverage beginning live from Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor at 4:15 p.m. MT.
Kicking off each day with ESPN Radio's "Mike & Mike in the Morning" from 4:00-8:00 a.m. MT, ESPN 700's day continues with "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" from 8:00-11:00 a.m. before "The Dan Patrick Show" runs from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. Local "ESPN 700 SportsCenter" breaks are featured throughout the national programming, prior to "Bill & Spence" delving deep into the issues of the day from 2:00-6:00 p.m., including the "Big Interview of the Day" segment at 5:10 p.m. featuring a variety of both local and national newsmakers throughout the week.
