Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release
GARY, Ind. - The Kansas City T-Bones scored seven times in the first four innings and the held the Gary SouthShore RailCats to only three hits, handing the hosts their most lopsided loss of the year, 12-0 Monday night in front of 3,338 fans at U. S. Steel Yard.
Four of the seven early Kansas City runs were unearned as shaky defense combined with a three-inning start from Garret Holleran (0-1) put the âCats in an early hole. Holleran, making his first start of the year, threw 57 pitches in the first three innings and left after allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits. Kyle Heyne came on in relief and proceeded to allow four runs on four hits in the fourth, although only one of the runs was earned.
Dustin Bolton (3-2), meanwhile, turned in his best start of the year for Kansas City and held a RailCats offense that pounded out a franchise-record 22 hits Sunday to just two hits and one walk in seven innings. Bolton retired 11 in a row after Mike Massaro singled to lead off the first and never allowed a runner past second base. The right-hander needed only 86 pitches to get through seven innings and recorded three strikeouts.
Kansas City busted the game wide open in the ninth by adding five more runs against Clint Goocher. The T-Bones finished with 15 hits, including three each from Aharon Eggleston and Damian Rolls. Rolls, Greg Jacobs, Neb Brown and Jacob Blackwood each drove in two runs for the visitors, who won for just the second time in five games against the âCats this season.
Steve Haake singled in fourth and Jay Pecci singled in the ninth to round out the offensive day for the RailCats, who were shutout for the first time this season. Jordan Czarniecki (six games), Eric McNamee (six games) and Mike Rohde (eight games) all had hitting streaks stopped in the loss.
