KANSAS CITY, KS-The Kansas City T-Bones (40-46) scored seven runs on nine hits to beat the Joliet JackHammers (30-56) 7-0 before 7,106 fans at CommunityAmerica Ballpark on Friday night.
Kansas City scored a single run against Joliet LHP Devin Anderson (1-4) in the 1st inning. LF Aharon Eggleston (1-4) reached base on an error and moved to third base on a bloop single by 1B Damian Rolls (4-5) to center field. A sacrifice fly by RF Greg Jacobs (1-4) scored Eggleston for a 1-0 T-Bones lead.
In the 2nd inning, DH Ryan Fox (1-3) singled and moved to third base on a single by SS Jeff Helps (1-3). Eggleston grounded into a double play to retire Helps and score Fox from third base for a 2-0 Kansas City advantage.
Anderson concluded the 2nd inning by getting Jacobs to ground out. He went on to retire 11 in a row before 2B Neb Brown (0-2) worked a one-out walk in the 6th inning. C Craig Hurba (1-4) followed with a double to score Brown and make it 3-0.
The T-Bones scored three runs in the 7th inning to further solidify their lead. Helps was hit by a pitch by RHP Chad Blackwell and moved to second base on a walk by Eggleston. Rolls hit an RBI double to score Helps for a 4-0 lead. Jacobs doubled home Eggleston and Rolls to make it 6-0.
The T-Bones added another run in the 8th inning for a 7-0 score. RHP Dustin Bolton (6-5) pitched a complete game shutout for Kansas City. Anderson took the loss despite pitching well for the JackHammers. He allowed just two earned runs on five hits in five and two-thirds innings on the mound.
The JackHammers had their chances at the plate on Friday. Joliet got its leadoff batter on base in the 4th, 5th and 7th innings but the JackHammers grounded into double plays in each of those innings.
On Saturday night, it's game three of a four-game series between the JackHammers and T-Bones. RHP Nate Sevier (2-2, 2.66) gets the start for the JackHammers against LHP Brett Davis (1-0, 1.29) for Kansas City.
