Minnesota Lynx News Release
MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL - The Minnesota Lynx today announced center Sylvia Fowles has been cleared to return to play and in a subsequent move, forward Nikolina Milić was released from her hardship contract. Fowles will be available for tonight's contest against the Phoenix Mercury. Fowles rejoins Minnesota after being sidelined for the past five games due to a cartilage injury in her right knee. Fowles, in her 15th and final WNBA season, has averages of 16.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.3 blocks in 12 games. Recently announced as an AT&T WNBA All-Star co-captain and starter, she is currently pacing the league in field goal percentage (64.1) and rebounds per game. On June 1, she grabbed a league-high 20 rebounds in a single game, tying the franchise single-game record with Rebekkah Brunson.
Milić, a 6-3 rookie center, was signed by Minnesota on May 6 to a hardship exception contract. The 28-year-old started in the past three games for Minnesota and has appeared in all 17 regular season contests. She averaged 6.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 14.4 minutes per game. On the June 12 contest against the Indiana Fever, Milić led all scorers with a season-high 23 points, the most by a Lynx reserve since Candice Wiggins had 25 at Tulsa on July 10, 2012.
The Lynx host the Mercury tonight, June 23 at Target Center. Tip is set for 7:00 p.m. CT and will broadcast on Bally Sports North.
