Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC News Release

Colorado Springs, Colo. - Fireworks exploded in the air and on the field as the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC notched another home win and jumped back to the top of the leader board.

Switchbacks FC got their revenge tonight at Sand Creek Stadium against the Austin Aztex with a 2-0 victory. This is the 7th consecutive home win for Switchbacks FC!

"I thought Austin played a good game, but we kept plugging away," said Switchbacks FC Head Coach Steve Trittschuh. "It wasn't an easy game, but they dug down deep and got another win at home and another shutout."

Heavy rains poured down on Sand Creek stadium delaying the match by an hour on Friday night. Once the rains stopped and the ball was kicked off, Switchbacks FC came out strong looking for that first goal. The Aztex defense kept Switchbacks FC at bay through the first half, but couldn't stop them in the second.

Miguel Gonzalez (#10) found the back of the net in the 54th minute thanks to a cross by Aaron King (#18).

Then in the 80th minute, it was Gonzalez again who beat the Aztex goalkeeper after Shin Harada (#21) sent him the perfect pass.

"It was another great win at home," said Switchbacks FC's Miguel Gonzalez. "We want to keep this streak rolling and win as many games as we can."

Switchbacks FC (10-5-0) are now tied for first in the USL Western Conference, with 30 points.

Switchbacks FC will be on the road next week in Tulsa to take on the Roughnecks FC. Then they are back at home on Saturday, July 18th at 7 p.m., when they salute the local military.
