Switchbacks Continue US Open Cup Run Wednesday Night against San Antonio FC

Colorado Springs, CO - The Colorado Springs Switchbacks will continue their quest for the 105th edition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Wednesday night at Toyota Field against San Antonio FC (USL).

Coming off last weeks 3-2 win over FC Denver, the Colorado Springs Switchbacks will be playing in the third round of the tournament, this time against USL side San Antonio FC. San Antonio FC advanced to this point by defeating the Midland/Odessa Sockers 4-0 last week. If the Switchbacks are to advance past the third round of the US Open Cup, the draw to see who the next opponent would be is taking place on Thursday May 24th, where 20 Major League Soccer teams will be entering the tournament.

The US Open Cup is one of the most unique tournaments in the world. Similiar to the FA Cup in England, soccer teams from all levels are eligible to participate in the tournament. Last year ameature club Christos FC (USASA) made it all the way to the fourth round to face D.C. United (MLS) who are in the top flight of American soccer. 94 Teams are participating in this year's tournament.

Kickoff is set for 6:30 PM MT at Toyota Field in San Antonio, Texas. The game will be broadcasted live on ussoccer.com.
