Louisiana Swashbucklers News Release
LAKE CHARLES LA. - After a bye week for the PIFL action resumes Saturday when the Louisiana Swashbucklers (1-2) look to turn things around when the team travels east to face the Columbus Lions (2-2). Locally, the game will be broadcast on 1310 KEZM Sport Radio with John Goodman calling the play-by-play. The game will also be available on streaming audio which can be accessed by either logging onto www.kezmonline.com or www.labucs.com. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. central standard time.
Swashbucklers' defensive end DeMario Dixon is deemed probable for the game. He sat out the loss to the Albany Panthers on March 31st with a broken finger. If Dixon plays he will have a protective "boot" provided for his injured finger. Also expected to return is defensive back Eric Jackson and linebacker Tray Blackmon.
Like Albany, the Bucs have a rivalry with the Lions. The two teams squared off in the league championship game of 2010 when Columbus came out on top 68-13. The Lions resigned recently kicker Trey Crum to shore up the kicking game. So far in the season Columbus is ranked last in PAT's completed with 68 percent and kickoff coverage (33 yards/kick). They are second to last in field goals going one for four.
Both teams are coming off loses. Louisiana lost to the Albany Panthers 52-38 while Columbus fell to the Alabama Hammers 63-60. Darnell Lee is the Swashbucklers' head coach and Jason Gibson is head coach for the Lions.
