
Swarm signs 10, including Cousins, Pollock

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Swarm General Manager Marty O'Neill today announced the National Lacrosse League (NLL) team has signed the following 10 players: D Ryan Cousins, F Sean Pollock, D Ryan Sharp, G Ryan Avery, F Sean Holmes, D Brad Favero, F Marc Jackson, D Noah Talbot, F Mark Tinning and F Mike Hominuck. Three of the signees are returning Swarm players, including Pollock, the team's second leading scorer last season. The contracts are subject to league approval.
Cousins, 26 (4/1/81), served as Swarm captain in 2007 en route to NLL Defensive Player of the Year honors. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound Toronto, Ont., native, totaled 23 points (9-13=23) in 16 games. In 46 games over three seasons with Minnesota, Cousins has put up 40 points (16-24=40).
Pollock, 25 (7/7/82), posted 67 points (26-41=67) while playing in 15 games for the Swarm in 2007. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound native of Wallaceburg, Ont., has played in 43 games over four seasons with Minnesota, totaling 132 points (51-81=132).
Sharp, 24 (1/21/83), split the 2007 season between Minnesota and Portland, notching 11 points (3-8=11). Sharp played the 2006 season with Portland, racking up 30 points (16-14=30) in 16 games. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound defender is a native of Peterborough, Ont.
Avery, 25 (6/27/82), went 4-0 with a 10.64 goals against average and a .782 save pct. with Calgary in 2007, after splitting the previous campaign with the Roughnecks and Buffalo. The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder hails from Hamilton, Ont.
Holmes, 29 (8/17/78), played last season for Major Series Lacrosse's Brampton Excelsiors. The Toronto, Ont., native helped lead the Excelsiors to the MSL Finals.
Favero, 22 (11/18/84), notched 20 points (12-8=20) and 13 ground balls in 14 games during his senior season with Canisius College. The 5-foot-10, 173-pound defenseman is a native of St. Catharines, Ontario. The Swarm selected Favero in the fifth round (No. 60 overall) of the 2007 NLL Entry Draft.
Jackson, 21 (3/4/86), recorded 21 points (10-11=21), including 8 power play goals in 18 games with Whitby (OJLA) this summer. Jackson is from Brooklyn, Ont.
Talbot, 27 (12/24/79), has spent the last two seasons with the Swarm, picking up 17 points (1-16=17) in 30 games. In 2007, the 6-foot, 180-pound native of Vancouver, B.C., had nine points (1-8=9) and 23 PIM.
Tinning, 24 (5/23/83), appeared in two games with Arizona last season, accruing six PIM. The 6-foot-1, 188-pound forward hails from Kitchener, Ont.
Hominuck, 26 (5/4/81), split 12 games with Minnesota and Portland in 2007, totaling 52 points (18-34=52). Hominuck had 53 points (28-25=53) the prior season in Portland. The 5-foot-10, 170-pound Hominuck is from Welland, Ont.
Minnesota opens its fourth NLL campaign at Toronto on Friday, Jan. 11 and then hosts the Rock on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 7:00 p.m. at Xcel Energy Center in the home opener. Swarm lower level season ticket packages are on sale now and start at $80. Certain seating locations include buy two season tickets and get two complimentary plus free parking.
