
Swarm Re-Signs Defenseman Shawn Summerfield

SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Swarm general manager Marty O'Neill announced today that the National Lacrosse League (NLL) team has re-signed defenseman Shawn Summerfield to a 2006 contract and released defenseman Kyle Ross.
Summerfield, 24 (3/16/81), made his NLL debut with the Swarm against Philadelphia on April 15, 2005 after being signed as a free agent by Minnesota on March 25, 2005. The 6-foot-2, 215-pound native of Scarborough, Ontario recorded four assists and 22 penalty minutes in ten games with the Ajax-Pickering Rock of the Ontario Senior âB' Lacrosse Association this summer. He will wear jersey number 33 with the Swarm.
Ross, 22 (5/12/83), notched 14 points (4-10=14) and 29 PIM in 16 games during his first season with the New Westminster Salmonbellies (WLA) this summer. He added seven points (1-6=7) and 11 PIM in six playoff contests. Ross was selected by Minnesota in the fifth round (44th overall) of the 2004 NLL Entry Draft.
