SwampDogs Stopped by Salamanders

Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - It's not every day a casual baseball fan gets to see a helicopter up close.
For the nearly 2,000 fans in attendance for Saturday's game against the Holly Springs Salamanders, First Responders' Night proved to be special on that front. With a chopper, fire engines, EMS ambulances and police vehicles making appearances at The Swamp, the 14th annual Fun-Go bobblehead night had plenty of excitement.
That sentiment carried over to the field as well. In a bit of a wild night that saw Fayetteville use nine pitchers in nine innings, the SwampDogs could have used some help from their first responder friends, falling to Holly Springs 6-1.
With two days off before the team's next game, Fayetteville came into Saturday night's action with a plan to use its bullpen depth and give almost every member of the staff some work on the mound while keeping everyone fresh for the coming week.
Outside of a couple of speed bumps, the road was mostly smooth for the SwampDogs' pitchers, as arms like Tyler Shuck (Florida Gulf Coast), Harry Thomas (Campbell) and German Reyes (Mount Olive) were brilliant in their short appearances. Fayetteville's offense just could not find much success against Holly Springs, mustering three hits.
The SwampDogs are still right in the hunt for the East Division's second playoff spot and return to action at home Tuesday night against the Morehead City Marlins. Come out to The Swamp and donate a toy to benefit children in the Fayetteville community, because it's Christmas in July with the SwampDogs!
You don't have to wait until Tuesday for more fun with the SwampDogs, though, as the Balls and Strikes Bowling Classic is Sunday afternoon from 2:30-7:00 at B & B Bowling Lanes! This fun event benefits Service Source/Friendship House Fayetteville, a local nonprofit and leading resource for people with disabilities. There will be door prizes and silent auction items throughout the day, and of course the chance to bowl with your favorite SwampDogs players and mascot!
