Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release
FLORENCE, S.C. - The Fayetteville SwampDogs endured a tough loss to the Florence RedWolves 12-11 on Friday night at Sparrow Stadium.
The SwampDogs got off to a fast start, scoring seven runs in the top of the second inning against RedWolves starter Clarke Schmidt, sending 12 men to the plate. They would plate another run in the third and three more in the fourth inning to take a commanding 11-0 lead.
Aaron Lesiak (Soph./Presbyterian) was cruising through the first four innings of the game, but hit a wall of sorts in the fifth, allowing four runs in the frame, and being pulled in favor of Zach McKay (Soph./The Citadel) in the process.
The RedWolves scored two runs in the sixth inning against McKay, and in the bottom of the seventh inning, the wheels fell off the wagon as the SwampDogs bullpen imploded, allowing six runs to the Wolves, aided by two costly errors.
Faul (0-1) was tagged with the loss, while Cole Lee of the RedWolves earned the victory in relief.
The SwampDogs (16-29) return home for two weekend games, the first on Saturday, July 25th against the High Point-Thomasville HiToms on Christmas in July.
