SwampDogs Heeled by Salamanders

HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C. - The Fayetteville SwampDogs dropped a lopsided contest to the Holly Springs Salamanders 13-8 at Salamanders Stadium in Holly Springs Friday night.

Chris Lowe (Fr./Indiana) cracked his first home run of the season for the SwampDogs, pouncing on a 1-1 pitch leading off in the fourth inning. Sky Overton (Soph./Furman) contributed two doubles, and Mike Deese (Jr./The Citadel) contributed three RBIs.

The SwampDogs scored five of their eight runs in the ninth inning against Salamander infielder Xyruse Martinez, placed on the mound in the frame. The big hit of that inning was a three-run home run by Austin Upshaw (Fr./Kennesaw State), his second home run in as many games.

Jordan Buster (Fr./The Citadel) got the start for the SwampDogs and surrendered seven runs in 2.2 innings pitched.

Andrew Wantz got the win for the Salamanders, improving his record to 1-0 on the season, Buster was tagged with the loss, falling to 1-1 on the year.

The SwampDogs (6-7) are back in action tomorrow night as they take on the Holly Springs Salamanders at "The Swamp" Saturday night on Military Appreciation Night presented by Rick Hendrick Toyota and USAA.
