Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Fayetteville SwampDogs have announced today that Jim Roberson has been hired as an assistant coach for the 2011 season. Roberson will be in charge of the pitching staff of the SwampDogs under Darrell Handelsman.

Roberson, 27, spent last season as the administrative assistant for the University of Dayton baseball program, overseeing most of the program's daily operations. Dayton finished the regular season with a 30-25 record, going 15-9 in the Atlantic 10 Conference and finishing in third place.

"I'm excited to join the Fayetteville coaching staff this season, and I'm looking forward to working with Coach Handelsman and Coach Tulo," said Roberson. "The SwampDogs have had tremendous success in the past, and I'm eager to add to that success while continuing to help the development of our players."

Prior to Dayton, Roberson spent two years as the pitching coach at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tenn., while working on his master's degree in business administration. Before that, he was an assistant coach for both the baseball and football teams at Hiram College for two seasons.

A Springboro, Ohio native, Roberson spent four years as a pitcher for Defiance College, graduating in 2006 with a B.A. in management with a minor in economics.
