Fayetteville SwampDogs News Release

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - When the leading hitter in junior college baseball suits up for the SwampDogs this summer, fans in Fayetteville will be very familiar with his name even if they are still learning about him.

Jordan Ding, who's brother Tyler played for the SwampDogs in 2012, is currently the National Junior College Athletic Association's top hitter. Ding is coming to the SwampDogs this summer after being third baseman at Pasco Hernando Community College in New Port Richey, Florida in the spring.

Ding is tearing up Junior College Baseball in 2016, leading the nation with a .455 batting average and .531 on base percentage. He is also fifth in the nation with four triples and in the top ten in both runs (7th with 51) and hits (8th with 66). He has at least one hit in 34 of 38 games played. A product of his consistency and excellence this season, he went five for six, scoring four runs and driving in six more on February 13th against Inspiration Academy (Fl.).

Ding is riding an 11 game hit streak entering his team's final three regular season games and he has hit in 20 of the last 21 games he has played in. In four separate games this season he has tallied at least four hits including on March 19 when he went 5-7, hitting for the cycle and helping power Pasco Hernando to a 21-18 win.

To top off what Ding is currently accomplishing, he has also driven in 40 runs, which is over one per game, and stolen nine bases.

The Fayetteville SwampDogs home opener for the 2016 season is Wednesday, June 1st . Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 910-426-5900, or by visiting www.goswampdogs.com/tickets.
