The Fayetteville SwampDogs announced the addition of St. Edward's Hilltoppers' Ransom LaLonde to the 2013 roster.

LaLonde is having a successful junior year in Austin, Texas. The 6-3, 210-pound shortstop has started in all 58 games and is hitting .322 in the three-hole. LaLonde leads the team with 40 RBIs, and is second with 46 runs scored and 13 doubles on the year.

He sports an on-base percentage of .395 because he drew 31 free passes on the season, including a team-high 16 hit by pitches.

"We are very pleased to have Ransom on our roster. He had a big year with St. Edward's and he helped his team get to the Division II Championships in Cary this coming week. I expect Ransom to compete for a spot in the middle infield and contribute at the plate," head coach Darrell Handelsman said.

As a sophomore, the Tulsa, Oklahoma native played in 49 games with 47 starts in his first year with St. Edward's University. LaLonde batted .312 with 28 RBIs, 36 runs, and 12 extra base hits. He was honored with a second team All-Heartland Conference selection.

He played his freshman year with the University of Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners in four games before transferring to the Hilltoppers. In high school, he batted .505 during his senior year and was named a Louisville Slugger All-American Honorable-Mention and an All-State Honorable-Mention.
