Surge fans can have lunch with the Surge team Monday afternoon at Bob's Burger Factory at Courthouse and Pass Road to watch the NHL Winter Classic between the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers. This will be a special time and special editon of the Surge Hockey Happy Hour. So meet the Surge players at Bob's Burger Factory Monday afternoon around 12:30. That's at the corner of Courthouse and Pass Roads.
Tonight's game has a special 6:05 new Years Eve face-off time.
The Surge and Ice Flyers have split their first four games they have played this season with the home team having won each game.
By going 2-for-2 on the power play last night, the Surge kept its strong road power play record in tact. Mississippi has the second best road power play percentage in the SPHL at 21.4 precent, connecting on 12 of 56 opportunities. Overall, the Surge ranks third in the SPHL on the power play at 20 percent.
Mississippi also has scored at least two goals in all 22 of its games, the only SPHL team to have done so.
In an unusual schedule quirk, the Surge will have the next five Saturday nights off. Mississippi will not play another Saturday night game until February 11th at Columbus.
The next game for the Surge is Tuesday on the road at the Mississippi RiverKings. After a Thursday game in Knoxville, the Surge returns home for the first time in 2012 on Friday January 6 also against Knoxville at 7:05 p.m.
