July 22, 2011 - SPHL (SPHL)
Mississippi Surge News Release
The Mississippi Surge will have a new face behind the bench when it begins defense of its President's Cup championship. Team owner Tim Kerr announced coach Steffon Walby will not return as coach for the 2011-12 season.
"In order to move ahead and keep hockey viable here on the Gulf Coast this is a decision that we had to make in the overall best interest of the franchise," Kerr said. "Certainly we appreciate everything Steffon has done for the Surge and we wish him the best in the future."
Kerr said the team has begun a search for a replacement and says he knows the Surge fans can look forward to another exciting season of action starting in October.
Season tickets for the 2011-12 Surge season are on sale now, with plans starting for less than $10 per game. For more information call the Surge at 228-287-PUCK (7825).
