Augusta RiverHawks News Release

The Augusta RiverHawks Hockey Club has announced that Aaron McGill has re-signed for the 2011-12 season. The team also announced the signing of defenseman Quinn Waller to a Try-Out Agreement.

"We are very excited that Aaron McGill is coming back to Augusta. Aaron is a heart and soul guy as well as one of the most exciting players to watch in the league," said RiverHawks Head Coach Brad Ralph. "We will be relying on Aaron to play in all situations of the game and I expect him to produce more and build off last season. He has great character and will help us both on and off the ice."

McGill, 22, scored seven goals and recorded 18 assists for a total of 25 points in 41 games with the RiverHawks. The Salem, OR native's 162 penalty minutes led the RiverHawks over the course of the 2010-11 season.

Prior to joining the RiverHawks the 6-1, 210-pound McGill spent time with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs of the NAHL and the Portland Winter Hawks of the Western Hockey League. The 22-year-old center made a name for himself during the 2010-11 season by combining a penchant for big hits, timely offense, and a willingness to drop the gloves when needed.

The 25-year-old Waller completed his collegiate career this past hockey season with the Adrian Bulldogs. Waller finished his impressive three-year tenure at Adrian College ranked first in games played, second in assists, and second in plus-minus rating in the school's hockey history. He was one of the key players on a Bulldogs team that was the fastest team to win 100 games ever in the NCAA.

"Quinn comes highly recommended and graduated from one of the best programs in D.III hockey, said Ralph. "Quinn is a rugged, hard nose defenseman that can play in all situations. While he will be attending Greenville's training camp, we expect him to bolster our blue line and quickly establish himself as a tough defenseman to play against."

Prior to attending Adrian College the 5'11, 200-pound defenseman played three season in the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League, splitting time between the Aurora Tigers, the Vaughan Vipers, the Couchinching Terriers, and the Collingwood Blues. He broke out in his final season of junior hockey, tallying 47 assists and 51 points in just 45 games. The Barrie, ON native was named to the MCHA All-Academic team in both 2009-10 and the 2008-09 seasons. In 2007-08 he was named to the MCHA First Team All-Conference team and selected to the MCHA All-Freshman Team.

Season tickets are on sale for the 2011-12 season and are available through the RiverHawks' front office at 706-993-2645. Information on the team is available at www.augustariverhawks.com.
