Magnolia State Battle:The Mississippi Surge take on the in state rival Mississippi RiverKings tonight in the first ever meeting between the two franchises.
Records: The Surge is 2-2-0 for four points tied for fourth place.
The RiverKings are 1-2-0 for two points in ninth place.
Season Series:This is the first of eight meetings this season between these two teams.
Recent Action: The Surge is coming off its second straight victory, a 3-0 win over Huntsville last Friday in the home opener for the Surge. The RiverKings lost 4-3 at home to Columbus last Saturday in their last game.
Nick Knack: Nick Eno stopped all 26 shots he faced last Friday in posting the first shutout of his professional career. Eno and goaltender partner Kiefer smiley both have goals against averages under 3.00 and save percentages over .900
Everyone Into The Act: The Surge has done a great job in the first four games of spreading its scoring around. Nine different players have scored goals, and 13 players have points for the Surge.
Check Your Number: Right Winger Billy Siers will be switching uniform numbers tonight. Siers will now wear uniform number 28.
Coaching Similarities:Surge coach Jeff Bes and RiverKings coach Derek Landmesser are both in their first season behind the bench, and both are coming off highly decorated playing careers in the Central Hockey League. Bes finished his playing career with the Laredo Bucks and Landmesser finished playing for the RiverKings.
Next Up: The Surge is right back in action tomorrow night, for the third game of a seven game homestand, hosting the Louisiana IceGators at 7:05 p.m. The Riverkings won't be in action again until next Friday night when they will host Columbus.
