Jacksonville, Fla. - T.J Nall pitched seven shutout innings and tied his career high of 10 strikeouts on Monday at the Baseball Grounds as the Jacksonville Suns held on in the first game of the second half to defeat the Montgomery Biscuits 1-0.

Nall allowed only four hits in his seven innings of work, while tying his season and career high with 10 strikeouts. The right-hander only walked one Montgomery batter. After beginning the season in the bullpen, Nall has settled well in his starting role. In six starts, Nall is 5-0 with a 1.85 ERA. He has won his last five starts in a row and the Suns are undefeated (6-0) when he is the starting pitcher.

Jacksonville's offense broke through Montgomery starter Jeff Niemann in the fourth inning as Sergio Garcia singled home A.J. Zapp to give the Suns a 1-0 advantage. Niemann looked strong in his return to Montgomery by allowing only four hits in his four and a third innings of work. The six-foot-nine right hander walked one and struck out eight.

Nall improved to 5-2 on the season with the win while Niemann fell to 0-1 in his first game with Montgomery this season. Jacksonville's Mark Alexander saved his 17th game of the season with a perfect ninth inning.

With the win the Suns snapped a two-game losing skid, only the fifth losing streak of the season of two games or more. The season-long losing streak came opening weekend against Chattanooga when the Suns lost three in a row to the eventual first half North Division Champion Lookouts.

Jacksonville and Montgomery meet Tuesday night in game two of the series at the Baseball Grounds. RHP Danny Muegge will face Montgomery RHP Andy Sonnanstine at 7:05 p.m. ET. Tuesday is Fifty-Cent Family Feast night featuring fifty-cent hot dogs, peanuts and ice cream treats. Tickets are available by calling the Suns box office at 904.358.2846 or by visiting jaxsuns.com.
