
Suns Hold On For Third Straight Win Over Jaxx

JACKSON, TENN. - The Jacksonville Suns (33-21) won their third straight game over the Diamond Jaxx (24-29) on Friday night at Pringles Park, 3-2. The Suns won the series after hanging on for the 3-2 win Friday. The Jaxx have lost four straight overall and now see their lead in the wildcard race cut to just 1 ½ games. The Suns now lead the season series over the Diamond Jaxx, 5-3.
Jose Rosario (4-3) struck out eight batters and went 6.2 innings for the victory for the Suns. Rosario allowed just a run on three hits on the night. Anthony Vasquez (1-3) suffers his third loss in four starts on Friday. Vasquez posted a quality start by going six innings and giving up just two runs on six hits. Vasquez' ERA is 2.52 after his first four Double-A starts. Steven Cishek collected his second save of the season for the Suns.
Leury Bonilla hit his fourth homer in four games on Friday night and finished 2-for-4 at the plate. Carlos Peguero was also 2-for-4 with a run scored. Ryan Curry had 2 RBI's and was 2-for-4 to lead the Jacksonville Suns at the dish.
The Suns scored their first run in the top of the first inning. Ryan Curry plated Lorenzo Scott with an RBI single to center. Suns went on top 1-0 in the first.
The Suns took advantage of a Jaxx error in the top of the second inning and went up 2-0. Lorenzo Scott grounded out to second, which brought in Tim Torres.
Leury Bonilla hit his fourth homer in four games in the bottom of the fourth inning. Bonilla's 6th homer of the season cut the Suns advantage to 2-1.
Jacksonville added what was an important insurance run in the top of the eighth. Ryan Curry singled in Vinny Rottino to make it 3-1 Suns.
The Jaxx had the bases loaded in the ninth and Brandon Bantz scored on a wild pitch. Steven Cishek struck out pinch hitter, Nate Tenbrink to end the game.
Jacksonville and West Tenn wrap up their series on Saturday night with a double-header at Pringles Park, beginning at 5:05. Saturday is National Guard Night and Post Game Fireworks Extravaganza, presented by High Tech Special Effects and the National Guard.
