Pittsfield Suns News Release
The Pittsfield Suns offense must have grown tired of playing close games. On Thursday night the Suns offense accounted for 15 hits and scored 12 runs against the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. The Suns again moved three games ahead of the seventh place Torrington Titans to clinch their first ever playoff spot.
The offense was far an away the story of the night. John Kinne and Frank Crinella paced the Suns, each going 4-for-5 and scoring two runs. Crinella broke the game open in the bottom of the sixth with a bases clearing triple that put the Suns ahead 10-3. Crinella actually came around to score on that play as well on a fielding error.
Mike Geannelis started the game for the Suns and pitched 5.2 innings of three run baseball. Geannelis was able to pitch around some control issues to come away with his team leading 5th win of the season.
The Suns finish the home portion of their schedule tomorrow night against the Nashua Silver Knights. There is plenty still at stake for the Suns in terms of playoff seeding. The Suns can still finish anywhere between 3rd and 6th place.
