Pittsfield Suns News Release

The Pittsfield Suns (12-16) were able to overcome an early 3-0 deficit but were not able to hold on to defeat the first place Martha's Vineyard Sharks (21-9), losing 11-4. Peter Gregory was staked to a 4-3 lead when he was relieved in the third by Patrick Lia. Suns pitchers were not abel to keep the Sharks off of the basepaths and four runs was not enough to hold on.

The Suns offense responded to a three run second inning by the Sharks with three of their own in the bottom of the third. Bo Slemons got the scoring started with his first home run of the season, and the first by a right handed Suns batter at Wahconah Park this season. The Suns kept the rally going with back-to-back RBI singles from Kyle Singleton and Brendan Slattery to tie the game up at three. The Suns took the lead in the fourth by turning a John Kinne walk into a sacrifice fly off of the bat of Gary Tesch.

For the rest of the game the Suns were only able to get two runners as far second base for the remainder of the game.

The Suns play again at Wahconah Park tomorrow at 4:00 PM against the Nashua Silver Knights.
