Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns entertained 11,392 fans on July 3rd when they took on the Pensacola Blue Wahoos at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. They ranked 12th in all of Minor League baseball and 1st in Double-A.
Anytime a team is in the top 20 in any category with all the teams there are in Minor League baseball it is very impressive.
Only 11 teams were ahead of Jacksonville during the two days and all of them were Triple-A teams and ballparks. Triple-A is the last level until the Major League level and is one level above the Double-A level.
Jacksonville and New Orleans, who are both the Double-A and Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, were the only farm teams in the top 12 that came from the same parent club, the Miami Marlins.
Suns' President Peter Bragan Jr had this to say, "It was great to have the ballpark so completely full and the post-game fireworks show was truly spectacular!
All credit goes to the wonderful fans of Jacksonville!"
The Jacksonville Suns return to the Baseball Grounds July 11 - July 13 when they take on the Montgomery Biscuits in a three game series. For tickets, call the Suns Front Office at 358-2846 or check out the website at www.jaxsuns.com.
