Arizona Sundogs News Release

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs suffered a 4-2 loss against the Tulsa Oilers Tuesday night at the BOK Center.

The Tulsa Oilers took the lead late in the first period with a back hander goal from Ben Gordon. The goal came 55 seconds into the opening frame with a pass from Ryan Menei. The Sundogs were busy, leading the first 20 minutes with 17 shots on goal but couldn't find the back of the net. Nehring came up just short when he let off a wrister from the right wing and caught the post. Arizona's netminder David Brown came out with an impressive shoulder save as Menei broke out on a straight away, with a shot from the center.

The Oilers extended their lead in the second period with a power play goal from Michel Beausoleil after a delayed penalty was called on Arizona's Matt McCready for hooking. The Sundogs were unable to follow through when the Oilers goalie, Shane Madolora made the blocker save on a breakaway from Ron Meyers and Nehring caught the crossbar for the second time in 40 minutes.

Tulsa opened the third period up, scoring two goals eight minutes in and extended their lead to four goals. With just under five minutes left in regulation Kevin Petovello put the Sundogs on the board with assist from Cody Purves. Jason Morgan would tally Arizona's second goal of the evening with 59 seconds left in the final period cutting their deficit in half.

Brown took the loss for the Sundogs receiving 28 shots on goal and making 24 saves. Arizona outshot Tulsa 38-28. Arizona was 0-2 on the power play while Tulsa was 1-5 on the power play. The Sundogs return home to host the Quad City Mallards in a two-game set at Tim's Toyota Center this weekend.
