
Sundogs Split Set against Thunder, 5-1 Loss

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs fell to the Wichita Thunder Saturday night at Tim's Toyota Center in a 5-1 loss.
The Sundogs were no match against Wichita Thunder tonight after losing by a four goal deficit. Alex Velischek scored an unassisted goal and Arizona's only goal of the night, 2:37 into the period. Less than a minute later Jon Booras posted a goal for Wichita equalizing the game with assist from Matt Robinson.
The second period proved to seal the Sundogs fate after the Thunder registered three goals in under five minutes in the middle frame. Andrew Martens tallied the first of three goals 10:28 and Jesse Dudas and Robinson picked up the assists. Jon Booras scored on the power play after Kyle Beattie was sent to the box for a two minute high sticking penalty. Jared Walker also notched a goal giving Wichita a three goal lead moving into the final 20 minutes. With 1:17 remaining the third period Robinson collected his third point of the night after dumping the puck past Sundogs goalie Andrew Engelage.
Chris Rawlings saw 34:37 between in the pipes making 15 of 19 saves before being relieved by Engelage who blocked four of five shots faced. The Sundogs outshot the Thunder 28-24. Arizona was unable to capitalize on the power play and was 0-8. Wichita was 1-4 on the power play.
The Sundogs were able to collect approximately 1,500 stuffed animals which will be donated to local charities in the Quad-City area for the holiday season. The Sundogs are back on the ice next week, December 27th and 28th when they host the Denver Cutthroats for the first time this season.
