St. Charles Chill News Release
St. Charles, Mo. - The Chill tied the game at 1-1 late in the second period on a goal from Nicklas Lindberg but the Mallards scored the game-winner from Mike Hellyer at the 6:15 mark of the third and added an empty netter with three second left to seal a 3-1 win over St. Charles.
St. Charles used a ferocious forecheck in the early stages of the game, limiting Quad City to just five shots in the opening period, and 21 for the game, but the Chill (7-16-4) could not cash in on their offensive chances.
Vladimir Nikiforov tallied the first goal of the game at the 10:48 mark of the second period on assists from Josh Lee and Thomas Frazee for a 1-0 Mallards lead but the Chill would counter less than six minutes later. Steve Anthony netted the tying goal on assists from Brock Wilson and Nicklas Lindberg and the game remained tied 1-1 after two periods.
Hellyer's goal gave Quad City (12-6-5) the 2-1 lead early in the third period and Mallard goalie Ty Rimmer made some superb saves in the final stanza to keep the Mallards on top before the empty net goal sealed the St. Charles' fate.
Following the Christmas break the Chill are back on the ice Friday night at 7:05 against the Allen Americans. Pepsi Family 4-Packs are available for just $60 in advance that include four platinum level tickets, four hotdogs, four cans of Pepsi (or diet), and four bags of chips.
