Sundogs' Roster at 17 with Addition of Forwards Hammond and Karsberg

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Arizona Sundogs, in preparation for the upcoming Central Hockey League (CHL) season, today announced the addition of forwards Brett Hammond and Kim Karsberg (kharz-burgh) to their 2009-10 roster.

Hammond, 29, comes to the Sundogs after spending the 2008-09 season with the Colorado Eagles. In 49 regular season games with the Northern Conference club, Hammond netted 11 goals, 13 assists and 33 penalty minutes (PIM). The Roseville, Minnesota, native added three points (2g/1a) and 12 PIM in 15 postseason contests with Colorado last year.

Prior to his time in the CHL, Hammond spent two-and-a-half seasons with the ECHL's Fresno Falcons before skating in Germany in 2007-08 where he set career highs in goals (20), assists (21) and points (41). The 5-foot-11, 195-pound forward has recorded 75 points (32g/43a) and 109 PIM in 155 regular season games as a pro. He has seen postseason action three times in his pro career, registering nine points (6g/3a) and 36 PIM in 36 playoff appearances.

Karsberg has played in the top league in Denmark his entire career, the same league former Sundogs forwards Brent Kelly and Tyler Redenbach skated in during the 2008-09 season. The 6-foot-2, 207-pound centerman was a teammate of Redenbach's last season with the Odense Bulldogs, tallying 14 points (7g/7a) and adding 18 PIM in 40 contests.

In 222 regular season games with Danish clubs Odense and Esbjerg, Karsberg collected 35 goals, 37 assists and 141 PIM.

The Sundogs are set to open the 2009-10 regular season at home at Tim's Toyota Center on Friday, Oct. 16 and Saturday, Oct. 17 against the expansion Allen Americans.
