Arizona Sundogs News Release

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs lost in a shootout against the Rapid City Rush tonight, 3-2 at Tim's Toyota Center. Rush would prove to keep the upper hand scoring the game winning goal in a shootout.

Rapid City lite the lamp less than three minutes into the game with a goal by Riley Weselowski and assist from Scott Wray. Arizona would knot the game 2:07 later with an unassisted goal from new Sundogs addition Garrett Clarke. Both teams remained tied heading into the first intermission.

Rush pulled ahead 5:20 into the second frame when Konrad Reeder slipped the puck past Arizona's netminder Andrew Engelage giving them the lead which they hung on to until Arizona knotted the game with less than four minutes left in the third period. Paul Mcilveen tied the game with an assist from the Sundogs' second new addition to the line-up Bryan Cameron, forcing them into overtime. The game was still undecided after five minutes of overtime which subsequently led them into a five-man shootout. Kevin Baker scored the only goal for the Sundogs in the shootout which wasn't enough to hold back the Rush.

Andrew Engelage would take the loss for the Sundogs blocking 30 shots. Rapid City outshot Arizona 33-31. Neither team would score on the power play with Arizona receiving four opportunities and Rapid City receiving three.

This was the first of a five-game stretch both teams will be facing against each other when they continue on Friday November 1, 2013 at Tim's Toyota Center at 7:05pm.
