
Sundogs End Cutthroats Nine Game Winning Streak

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs came out on top with a 3-2 shootout win over the Denver Cutthroats Wednesday night at Tim's Toyota Center in front of 3,132 fans, ending their nine-game winning streak. The Sundogs are now 29-26-6, picking up two points and moved into seventh place.
Three goals for Arizona would carry them to a victory over the Denver Cutthroats. Garett Bembridge struck first for the Cutthroats only 2:55 into the first period with assists from Steven Kaunisto and Daniel Barczuk. Ten minutes later Brandon Coccimiglio evened the score while on the power play from Bryan Cameron and Kevin Baker. Sean Zimmerman was sent to the sin bin for a two minute roughing call allowing the Sundogs to capitalize on the man advantage.
Baker tallied an unassisted goal and the only goal in the middle frame, giving Arizona the lead after 40 minutes of play. The Cutthroats knotted the game 2:32 into the third period with a power play goal from Troy Schwab, forcing the game into overtime and then a five-round shootout. David Rutherford launched a shot in overtime looking to end the game but the puck hit the crossbar. Sundogs goalie, Andrew Engelage stood tall during the shootout blocking all four shots faced and Jason Morgan and Shawn Limpright both found the net for the shootout win.
Engelage stopped 23 shots of 25 faced. Arizona outshot Denver 39-25. Both teams scored on the power play with the Sundogs 1-7 and the Cutthroats 1-5. Both teams meet again Friday and Saturday night to close out their final regular season meeting.
