Sundogs Add Former Enforcer Cedric Bernier to Training Camp Roster

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. The Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League, in preparation for the 2009-10 season, announced today the addition of former enforcer Cedric Bernier to their training camp roster. With the addition of Bernier, the number of players expected at camp is 27.
The Sundogs begin training camp on Monday, Oct. 5 with player physicals and medical exams. The teams first on-ice session is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 10:00am at Tims Toyota Center.
Bernier first joined the Sundogs midway through the Clubs inaugural season in 2006-07 after previously skating with the Florida Seals of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). The 6-2, 210-pound forward also appeared in three games with Arizona during the 2007-08 season before being dealt to the Wichita Thunder in exchange for future considerations. The Beauport City, Quebec, native recorded one goal and 31 penalty minutes (PIM) in 16 total games with the Sundogs,
In 33 games with Wichita in 2007-08, Bernier recorded career highs in goals (3), assists (2), points (5) and penalty minutes (229).
Bernier most recently split time between the ECHLs Wheeling Nailers and Charlotte Checkers in 2008-09, collecting two assists and 216 PIM. In 99 games as a pro, the 24-year-old has totaled eight points (4g/4a) and 476 PIM, averaging nearly five penalty minutes per game.
The Sundogs open the 2009-10 regular season at home at Tims Toyota Center on Friday, Oct. 16 at 7:05pm (Arizona time) against the expansion Allen Americans as they host the first Red Out of the year.
