Sunday Is Pirates Day of Hockey, Presented by Irving Oil

Portland, Maine - The seventh installment of a Day of Hockey, presented by Irving Oil will take place this Sunday at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

The annual event, supported by the Portland Pirates Foundation, Huskies Youth Hockey, the Cumberland County Civic Center, Big 20 Bowling Center, Southern Maine Law Enforcement Hockey and BIW Ironclad Hockey, consists of youth and adult hockey teams from Greater Portland playing games throughout the day at the Cumberland County Civic Center to celebrate the game of hockey while raising funds for the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital at Maine Medical Center. Since its inception, a Day of Hockey has raised more than $70,000.

A Day of Hockey, presented by Irving Oil, consist of Huskies Youth Hockey action from 7 a.m. until noon, a charity game between Southern Maine Law Enforcement and BIW Ironclad Hockey at noon followed by the Pirates facing off against the Springfield Falcons at 4 p.m. Huskies Youth Hockey, Southern Maine Law Enforcement Hockey and BIW Ironclad Hockey will contribute to the fundraising by selling Pirates tickets to that evening's game and donating $4 of every ticket sold to Barbara Bush Children's Hospital at Maine Medical Center. Donations are also being accepted.

7-8:20am Huskies Mini Mites (Pickup Games)

8:30 - 9:30am Huskies Squirts

9:40 - 10:40am Huskies Pee-Wees

10:50-11:50am Huskies Bantams

12:00-1:50pm Southern Maine Law Enforcement vs. BIW Ironclad Hockey Charity Game

4 p.m. Pirates Game vs. Springfield Falcons, 4 p.m.

The Pirates will be back in action with two games at the Civic Center this weekend. Saturday at 7 p.m. the Bridgeport Sound Tigers come to town. Fans are encouraged to get to the game early as the first 2,000 through the gate will receive a Pirates Team Photo courtesy of Brown Fox Printing. Also, fans can receive two tickets to a future Pirates game by donating a non-perishable food item to the Good Shepherd Food Bank.

Sunday is a "Day of Hockey" presented by Irving Oil and supported by the Cumberland County Civic Center to benefit the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital at Maine Medical Center. The day-long event is presented by the Portland Pirates Foundation and Huskies Youth Hockey. It's also the first Sunday Family Five Pack game of the season, and fans can purchase five Main Deck Tickets, five Daily Scrolls, and five free Chuck-a-Pies for only $60 (valued at $100 if purchased individually). All NextGen Pirates Kid's Club Members receive free tickets to the game, and special activities for NextGen Pirates Kid's Club Members only.
