Newport, R.I. - Zach Hogueisson, a freshman outfielder for Arizona State will be playing for the Newport Gulls this summer. Hogueisson attended Christian High School in El Cajon, California where he played all four years on varsity.
Hogueisson hit .359 with 19 home runs, 18 doubles, and seven triples in 121 career games. Perfect Game named the 6-4 200-pound outfielder an Underclass Second Team All- American in 2016 and 3rd Team All- American in 2017. Perfect Game ranked Hogueisson the 103rd best player in the country and 19th in the state of California.
Baseball America placed the Sun Devil 45th on their list of outfield prospects prior to the 2017 MLB Draft; this list was a combination of college and high school players.
The powerful left-handed hitter boasts above- average speed after running a 6.83 60-yard dash at the Perfect Game National Showcase and displayed a strong arm from the outfield with the ability to play all three spots. Hogueisson projects well, making him an exciting player to watch in the Gulls lineup this summer.
