NEWPORT, R.I. - The Newport Gulls are excited to announce the dates of their 2018 Youth Summer Baseball Camps. Camp has become a favorite summer activity, spanning five weeks June-July. These camps are a wonderful opportunity for boys and girls age 6-12 to learn from and interact with the Major League Stars of Tomorrow during their time in Newport; an experience of a lifetime! Gulls Youth Summer Baseball Camps are held in Portsmouth, Middletown, and Newport and welcome enthusiastic boys and girls of all skill levels. In addition to Gulls players, the Newport Gulls professional coaching staff leads and instructs camp.
2018's Camp Schedule is as follows:
Week 1- June 25-28- Portsmouth Little League Field
Week 2- July 2-5 - Middletown Little League Field
Week 3- July 9-12 - Newport 5th Ward Little League Field- Mark Weed Memorial Camp
Week 4- July 16-19- Portsmouth Little League Field
Week 5- July 23-26- Middletown Little League Field
Campers will receive a Gulls T-Shirt, Game Tickets, and Media Guide. Registration is now open on NewportGulls.com under the "Community Tab". Please direct any questions to 401-845-6832 or operations@newportgulls.com.
Newport's week of camp is dedicated to Mark Weed, the late husband of former Rhode Island Senate President Teresa Paiva Weed for the benefit of deserving boys and girls from Newport. Scholarships are provided to those in need through donations received on Mark Weed Memorial Scholarship Night. The Gulls partner with the Boys & Girls Club of Newport County, Martin Luther King Center, East Bay Community Action Program, Newport Little League, & Newport Public Schools to distribute the scholarships.
Please contact the Newport Gulls Front Office to support the Mark Weed Memorial Scholarship Fund or to sponsor underprivileged youth to attend any of the five camps on your behalf. The Gulls would like to thank all those who contributed to the Fund as well as Fredrick Henry Prince Memorial Fund, Rhode Island Foundation, Forster Orthodontics, Ben & Jerry's Newport, E. Francis Paper, Preservation Society of Newport County, NewportFed Foundation, Santander Bank, Bank Newport, Walmart, Island Wine & Spirits, Middletown Rotary Club, Starbucks, and Land Development Engineering Consulting for sponsoring campers in 2017.
