Strykers Defeat Marshals 5-4; Chasing Final Two Playoff Spots

The Woodlands Strykers started their four game roadtrip in style winning 5-4 over the Texas Marshals. The Strykers got just enough runs to keep the lead after the Marshals closed the gap.

Caulin Cragle made his first start of the season. He pitched five innings and threw 70 pitches. He gave up five hits, two runs, and struck out five while walking only one. Chris Thompson came in and threw two innings giving up two runs with two hits and one strikeout. Gandy Stubblefield came in for the final two innings. He gave up two hits and had one strikeout. He was able to get out a of bases loaded game with one out in the bottom of the ninth by getting a 4-6-3 double play to secure the win and the save.

Dirk Masters scored the first run for the Strykers in the fourth inning when he hammered a ball over the wall for a solo homerun in the fourth inning. The Strykers would score their final four runs in the fifth inning. Newly signed Stryker, Adrian Lopez and Drake Roberts would both draw walks to lead off the inning. After Roberts, Zach Davis stepped to the plate and hit a single. Bobby Schuman would step to the plate next and hit a RBI single that would score Lopez. Roberts would score the second run when the next batter, Kevin Santana would hit a sacrifice fly. Davis would score on a wild pitch and Schuman would score on an error by the catcher to round out the scoring for the Strykers.

The Marshal and Strykers will finish their series tomorrow in Dallas. The Strykers then head to Kilgore for games Thursday and Friday before coming home this weekend to face the Acadiana Cane Cutters. Bark In The Park will be this Saturday, August 3rd.
