TOPEKA, KAN. - The Corpus Christi IceRays (4-3-0-2) powered ahead with three goals in the third period to claim a 4-1 win against the Topeka RoadRunners (4-7-0-0) on Friday night at the Kansas Expocentre.

IceRays forward Nathan Bryer picked up the game's first goal on a shot from the left corner that went off the back of the netminder's legs just 33 seconds into the contest, giving the IceRays a 1-0 lead. Play resumed swift in the first period with much control going to the road side, however as the first and second periods wore on, play turned a lot more physical, and the result was a number of penalties including two 5-on-3 power plays for Topeka.

After killing off both including one at the start of the third period, the IceRays gained momentum and took their stand. At 2:10 of the third period, IceRays forward Andy McGlynn stuffed in a rebound coming from Cole Filler to the right side of the net to double the lead, 3-0. The lead tripled, 3-0, at 4:38 on the power play when Josh Tripp received a pass to the back door and jammed it home. The RoadRunners would finally answer at 10:40 on the power play when defenseman Jake Rosenbaum launched a shot from the left point that hit the crossbar and snuck into the back of the net to move the scoreline to 3-1. However, just under one minute later at 11:38, McGlynn picked up his second of the night off a faceoff draw, during which forced the netminder to make a bad move and wrapped the puck around him. That made the score 4-1, which is where it would come to rest after regulation.

IceRays netminder Tomáœ=A1 Vomá=C4=8Dka (4-3-1) grabbed the win, turning aside 28 of 29 shots, while RoadRunners goaltender Mike Rockwell (2-3-0) picked up the loss, stopping 32 of 36 shots. The IceRays close out their three-game, three-day weekend set against the RoadRunners on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 7:05 p.m. from the Kansas Expocentre. Coverage begins at 6:50 p.m. on SportsRadio Corpus Christi (KSIX 1230AM) and HockeyTV.
