
Strong Fourth Quarter Propels Armor Past Skyforce

Sioux Falls, S.D. (March 20, 2012) - The Springfield Armor defeated the Sioux Falls Skyforce 115-109 Tuesday night at the Sioux Falls Arena. A strong fourth quarter propelled Springfield as they snapped Sioux Falls' three-game winning streak.
The first quarter saw nine lead changes and seven ties. Sioux Falls (13-30) led 33-26 late in the first until Springfield ended the quarter on a quick 5-0 run to cut the deficit to 33-31 after one. Anthony Mason, Jr. had 12 of his 34 points in the first for Sioux Falls.
With the game tied (44-44) a little over halfway through the second quarter, Springfield (23-19) went on a 7-0 run to take a 51-44 lead. Springfield controlled the rest of the half and led 60-56 at halftime. Both teams shot over 50 percent from the field in the first half.
After trailing the entire third quarter, Sioux Falls took their first lead since losing it in the first half. Trey Gilder found Mason, Jr. for a layup in transition with half a minute left to play in the third and Sioux Falls led 83-82 entering the fourth.
However, Springfield began the fourth quarter on a 9-0 run and never looked back. They outscored Sioux Falls 33-26 in the final quarter, getting an important win and snapping their three-game losing streak.
Jeff Foote finished the game with 22 points and nine rebounds. Lance Hurdle scored 20 points behind 5-of-9 3-pointers.
Mason, Jr. tied a season-high in points (34) to go along with six rebounds and four assists. Marqus Blakely had a solid all-around performance with 17 points, eight rebounds and seven assists.
Sioux Falls hosts Bakersfield Friday at 7 p.m. CT. Springfield returns home to face Canton on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.
