June 21, 2006 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rocky Mountain Rage News Release

Broomfield, Colo. - The Rocky Mountain Rage Hockey Club today announced the addition of forward Anders Strome for the inaugural 2006-07 season. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native played in the ECHL last season after two seasons in the Central Hockey League.

"Strome is the kind of guy that we are going to want to build around. He is going to be relied upon on and off the ice," said Tracy Egeland, head coach. "He has had a couple great years in the professional leagues, but he hasn't tapped his potential yet."

Strome, 24, is a big, physical player at 6-foot-3 and 210 pounds who is a proven predator around the net. He jump-started his professional career in 2003 with 33 points in 40 games with the Wichita Thunder (CHL) before moving to the Lubbock Cotton Kings. In his third professional season and second season with the Cotton Kings, Strome scored 35 goals and 57 points in 60 games, and was among the CHL's leading scorers. One of the highlights of Strome's season included a four-goal game (Feb. 5, 2005), giving Lubbock a 4-0 win over Tulsa. He was also selected to play in the 2005 CHL All-Star Game.

Last season he tested his talents at a different level; Strome racked up 35 points on 14 goals and 21 assists in 54 games in the ECHL, primarily playing for the Florida Everblades and the South Carolina Stingrays.

Strome played his collegiate career for the Division I squad at UMass Lowell through the 2000-2003 seasons. He tallied 35 points in 91 games for UML.

The Rage is slated to begin its inaugural season this October on the road. The Rage will begin play at home this November at the new, state-of-the-art Broomfield Event Center. The Rocky Mountain Rage is one of two expansion teams in the Central Hockey League's 17-team field. The Rage will join the Colorado Eagles, Oklahoma City Blazers and Wichita Thunder in the Northwest Division.
