June 6, 2014 - North American Soccer League (NASL)
Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (June 5, 2014) - The Fort Lauderdale Strikers (4W-0T-4L, 12 pts) travel to San Antonio to face the Scorpions (5-1-2, 16 pts) in the final match of the nine-game Spring season. While the Strikers cannot win the Spring title, they can play spoiler and prevent the Scorpions from doing so. The points could also prove valuable in helping the Strikers capture one of two playoff berths given to the teams with the best record over the Spring and Fall seasons.

The Strikers are in the midst of a four-match losing streak that includes a shock defeat in the U.S. Open Cup to amateur side Laredo Heat at Lockhart. The Strikers 3-0 defeat last Saturday to the New York Cosmos ended a six game home unbeaten streak in league action.

Saturday's hosts, the San Antonio Scorpions, are flying high with a four-match unbeaten streak in the league. The side is in the running for the Spring crown with a victory, provided results from matches featuring Minnesota United FC and the Cosmos go the Scorpions' way.

Strikers fans can watch the match on NASLLive.com with a free subscription. Fans are also encouraged to follow the action on the Strikers official Twitter feed @FTLStrikers and interact with the club by using the #SASvFTL hashtag.

Coach Kronsteiner - "We're still disappointed with the result of the Cosmos game. But obviously, every game counts, every team still has a chance to make the playoffs. San Antonio is on a streak right now, but we need to go up there and come back with some points."

Profiling San Antonio Scorpions

The Scorpions are in a good run of form after a slow start to the season as their off-season acquisitions are starting to gel. The side, led by former Miami FC player and first-year coach Alen Marcina, features several names familiar to Strikers fans, the most notable of which is Walter Restrepo.

The Scorpions' last two league victories against Ottawa and Indy have come from goals deep in stoppage time. The Strikers, who have been known to leak late goals, will need to keep focus right until the full-time whistle.
