FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Friday) - The Fort Lauderdale Strikers and Ottawa Fury FC today announced a trade between the clubs, with Giuseppe Gentile moving to Ottawa in exchange for Paulo Jr. The trade is pending clearance of an International Transfer Certificate. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Paulo Jr. is an exciting player that we know very well from his time in Ottawa," said Head Coach and General Manager Caio Zanardi. "He is a great addition to our roster and brings a wealth of high-level experience to the club. We are confident in his quality and the new dimension that he will add to our attack."

Paulo Jr., 27, is no stranger to the Strikers. This will be the winger's third stint with the club, having suited up for Fort Lauderdale on loan from Real Salt Lake in 2012, and again in 2013. He played 15 matches for the Strikers, scoring one goal and two assists.

In his one-and-a-half years with Ottawa, Paulo Jr. was a staple in the Fury's starting lineup. Often deployed as a winger in a 4-3-3 formation, he made 29 starts in 37 appearances, and tallied five goals and five assists.

Gentile leaves Fort Lauderdale after making one start in 12 appearances for the Strikers across league and U.S. Open Cup play this season. The 23-year-old winger scored one goal, the match winner in the Strikers 2-1 triumph in Ottawa on May 27.

"Gentile is a great professional who always worked hard for the club in training and during his time on the pitch," added Zanardi. "We wish him the best in this next moment of his career."

Paulo Jr. will wear the number 11 jersey for the Strikers. He will link up with the rest of the squad ahead of the Strikers match in Edmonton on Sunday.
