Fort Lauderdale, FL - The Fort Lauderdale Strikers (2W-2D,2L, 8 pts) came from behind to beat the Ottawa Fury FC (0-1-4, 1pt) by a final score of 2-1 at TD Place in Ottawa, finishing with 4 points in 4 days on the road. The win gives them a four game unbeaten streak and puts them in fourth place in the standings, making them the fourth seed in the quest for The Championship.

The home team controlled the match at the start and found themselves in the lead 1-0 after just 10 minutes when Strikers midfielder Martin Nuñez attempted to clear the ball from the back line, but the ball went right to Ottawa's Carl Haworth at the top of the box. Haworth then bent the ball over Strikers keeper David Meves for the lead.

Just six minutes later Fafa Picault picked up an errant pass and made Ottawa pay, scoring his team -leading sixth goal of the season to tie the game 1-1.

The Strikers had several other chances in the first half as shots by Darnell King, Nuñez and Picault just missed the mark.

The Fury started the second half looking to take the lead once more, creating several chances and testing rookie goalkeeper Meves, who was making his first NASL start, but the keeper and the Strikers defense were solid, keeping the home team at bay.

In the 76th minute, Darnell King scored his second goal of the season, and his second goal this year against Ottawa, to give the Strikers the 2-1 lead. King made a great run into the top of the box, received a great through-ball from Mark Anderson, and put the ball into the back of the net.

Ottawa continued to press to tie the game, but the home team couldn't find the back of the net. Meves made several great saves including grabbing a one-timer by Haworth in the 95th minutes from about 10 yards out.

The Strikers return home after a successful road trip to take on the Atlanta Silverbacks on August 16th at 7:30 PM at Lockhart Stadium. Tickets are available at www.strikers.com or by calling 954-606-0400.
