Strikers and SFL-TV Renew Broadcast Television Agreement
March 9, 2016 - North American Soccer League (NASL)
Fort Lauderdale Strikers News Release
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Fort Lauderdale Strikers and SFL-TV today announced all 2016 Strikers home and away matches will be broadcast live on SFL-TV, starting with the April 2 home opening match versus North American Soccer League (NASL) newcomer Miami FC at Lockhart Stadium. Strikers Fútbol Live will once again be presented by Publix Supermarkets.
SFL-TV will broadcast 32 North American Soccer League Spring and Fall Season games. Match telecasts will remain available on ESPN3 globally with the exception of select NASL Wednesday Night Soccer on ONE World Sports.
"We are thrilled to team up with SFL-TV for a second season as the official television broadcast partner of the Fort Lauderdale Strikers," said Strikers CEO Sean Guerin. "The Fort Lauderdale-based television station is very active in our community and will help us attract new fans. While we certainly want Strikers fans to continue to come out to Lockhart Stadium and enjoy professional soccer in person, this agreement with SFL-TV will enable our fans to watch every minute of action on their TVs for all of our games, which we are proud to provide to our South Florida fans."
The HD telecasts will include a seven-minute pre-game show before kickoff. SFL-TV will produce Strikers-specific content that will run on the station, including features with the station's street team.
"We are proud to be the exclusive English language television broadcast partner for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers," said SFL-TV Vice President / Station Manager Marilyn Hansen. "The growth of soccer in the South Florida market and across the country is explosive and we are proud to partner with the Strikers to make soccer accessible to everyone in South Florida, over-the-air on SFL-TV and on THIS TV." Strikers Fútbol Live is SFL-TV's only live sports programming.
"Publix is proud to partner with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers and sponsor youth soccer in the communities we serve. We look forward to tuning in with fellow fans to a great season!" said Nicole Krauss, Media and Community Relations Manager - Miami Division.
