Westchester Flames News Release
(New Rochelle, NY - 07/08/2004) - The Pittsburgh Riverhounds, presently in the midst of a seven game winning streak, make their first visit to Westchester on Saturday, July 10, 5:30 p.m., at City Park Stadium, New Rochelle.
The Flames will be without the services of leading scorer, Evaud Thompson (10 goals), who must serve a one game suspension resulting from an ejection in the 90th minute in the 2-1 win over the Long Island Rough Riders last Sunday.
Said Coach Gus Skoufis, "This game will be a true test of the character of our team. Without Evaud, other players have the chance to show their stuff."
Pittsburgh, 10-2-1, is leading the league with 31 points. They are in first place in the Atlantic Division. The Flames are solidly entrenched in second place in the Northern Division with a record of 6-4-2, and 20 points.
The defense is getting thin for the Flames as Danny Parkin, Laurence Piturro, Chris Musinski and Julian Kapaj are all battling injuries. It will be a game day decision as to the status of each.
The Flames take to the road the next two weekends, including the return engagement on July 24th in Pittsburgh. They return home on Saturday, July 31st to take on division rival, Western Mass.
Gates will open at 4:30 p.m., with tickets going on sale at that time. Prices are $8.00 for adults, $5.00 for kids under 16. Children under 5 get in free. Refreshments and snacks are available at the field.
In other news, forward Costea Decu and midfielder Juan Carlos Gomez were both named to the Pro Soccer League's Team of the Week for their efforts over the holiday weekend.
