Island Storm News Release
(Charlottetown, PE) The National Basketball League of Canada is pleased to announce that Rashad Whack of the Island Storm has been named Player of the Week for the week ending November 30, 2014. This is the second time that a Storm player has received this award this season. Brandon Robinson of the STORM won the award last week.
Whack, a 6'3" guard who played collegiately at Mount St. Mary's, averaged 21 points in two games for the Island Storm, helping the PEI team win both games, en route to appearing atop the NBL Canada's Atlantic Division standings. Whack also added 9 assists and 8 rebounds over the two games while shooting 45% from the floor and nearly the same from the 3 point line.
Other players that were considered for Player of the Week honours were Marvin Phillips (London), DeAndre Thomas (Windsor), Anthony Anderson (Saint John) and Richard Amardi (Brampton).
Meanwhile, the National Basketball League of Canada is also pleased to announce that Bill Jones of the Windsor Express has been named Coach of the Month for November 2014. This is Jones' third nod as Coach of the Year in his NBL Canada coaching career; only former London Lightning head coach Micheal Ray Richardson, with four awards, has earned more.
Jones coached the Windsor Express to a 6-1 record in November, with those six wins as part of an ongoing team winning streak. "â¹
