Chicago Storm News Release

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - The Storm's road winning streak came to a close as the host Detroit Ignition defeated Chicago, 12-4, on Friday at Compuware Arena. Kyt Selaidopoulos scored two second-half goals to put away the Storm (9-5; 5-1 on the road). Detroit improved to 10-4 to join the Milwaukee Wave for a share of first place in the Major Indoor Soccer League standings.

Next up for the Storm is a home match against the defending MISL champion Philadelphia KiXX at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at the Sears Centre Arena. Fox Soccer Channel carries the broadcast live. Doors open at 6 p.m.

The Storm's Mariano Bollella scored his eighth goal of the season with 1:01 remaining in the first quarter. Bollella's assist to Matthew Stewart marked the 125th of his MISL/National Premier Soccer League career. Stewart's goal, which came midway through the fourth quarter, is his 11th of the season.

Detroit goalkeeper Danny Waltman, who started his professional indoor career with the Storm, saved 15 shots. Storm goalkeeper Jim Larkin, starting in his second straight match, made 13 saves. The Storm held Detroit to only six points through three quarters, but the Ignition distanced themselves in the fourth quarter with three two-point goals. Two of those goals came when Chicago's John Ball was used as a sixth attacker. Ball logged 7 minutes, 36 seconds in that role, making one save.

Friday's match was a defensive battle most of the way, to say the least, with only four goals between the two squads heading into the fourth quarter. Chicago's defense blocked 16 shots (three apiece from Will Kletzien, John Ball and Andy Rosenband), while the Ignition had nine blocks.

In other scoring, the Ignition's Jamar Beasley netted two goals and assisted Detroit's final tally. Droo Callahan contributed two assists for Detroit.
