Great Lakes Storm News Release
Birch Run, MI â The Great Lakes Storm won an exciting game tonight against the Idaho Stampede 113-111 (5.0, 2.0) to move to 22-14 on the season. This was probably one of the best games of the season as both teams hit clutch baskets in the final minute. Idaho drops to 19-17 on the season.
Once again the Storm was without the services of one of their top players, as Ezra Williams was out with an illness. Things went back in forth in the first quarter as neither team would lead by more than six. The Storm would win the first quarter 25-23 behind eight points from Jackie Butler. The Stampede went on a run in the second quarter and led by as many as nine points. The Storm would trim the lead to four at the half, as the Stampede led 45-41. Idaho won the second quarter 22-16. The Storm battled back to tie the game and it stayed close most of the third quarter. The Stampede went on a late run and went into the final quarter winning 82-75, also winning the quarter 37-34. The fourth quarter was filled with excitement as the Storm once again battled back to tie the game at 88 a piece with eight minutes to go. The Storm eventually took the lead and led by three after two clutch free throws from Jackie Butler with :14 in the game. Britton Johnsen made an improbable three to tie the game four seconds later. Jermaine Jackson then hit a jumper with 0.8 seconds to go to win the game for the Storm.
